its best to make a gasket.use thin gasket paper and a little welseal.

but make sure you line up the gasket with the two oil holes for oil returning from the rockers to the crankcase . i,ve been running es2 engines for age,s and always made gaskets. i do 2 or 3000mls a year. with only a few problems

Hi Matthewben, if you only have a 'weep', you will have to weigh up the task of removing the complete top end to rectify it (and it may appear back again sooner than you think) to just accepting the oil and simply enjoy the old bikes, oil and all. Remember, old Norton's don't drip oil, they simply leave their mark.

(have you checked the head bolt nuts, they maybe could do with re-tensioning.)
