Fitting prop stand to Slimline

Forums

Having bought a slimline without a prop stand, I have obtained one and refurbished it. A quick look seems to indicate that I'm going to have to lift the engine up to fit the clamp between the frame tube and the engine plates. Is that correct?

You have to remove the whole drive side ie clutch ,alternator, drive ,inner chaincase. The only hard bit is the engine sprocket which needs a good puller, not the commando one,Norton made one for the job,and it works when nothing else will.

Hello yes well I fitted a 600 ZZR Kawasaki Chrome prop stand To My Manxman And It fits a real treat With A nice special plate I made that fit the the engine plate at the back of the engine using longer 3/8 studs and domed nuts at each end then it clamps too the bottom of the frame so it will not go anywhere And The side work a real treat and look good to and cost only £30 , As you Norton side stand sometimes slip round the bottom tube on the frame , yours AJD

Anna, I thought this Manxman of yours was the "dogs danglies"?? obviously with a Kawasaki sidestand it is now a bitza!

As for the genuine Norton sidestand, it does not slip around as it butts up against the engine plate.

Hello Paul yes I admit I fitted a ZZR side stand but its been modified to if right , You would not of know if I had not of said ,it looks the part and very strong , And did not cost me and arm and a leg to buy ,unlike the Norton One ,it was not a new part ether , So there you are , its only a side stand and it works very well , Yours AJD
