Navigator connecting rods

Forums

My Navigator conrods have been bushed with bronze to compensate for worn gudgeon pins.  I've rebored the cylinders and fitting JP pistons.  The pins are too tight for the bushed rods so I have decided to re-bush (with aluminium) to suit the new pins.

Lubrication, as standard, is it just the hole in the end of the rod through to the pin or should there be a scroll in the bore of the rod?  That is to say, what is the standard arrangement for gudgeon pin lubrication?

Electra temptation!

Forums

Hi all, it's been a while since I posted on this forum but my Navigator rebuild has stalled as I try to solve a gearbox layshaft bush / mainshaft bearing alignment problem which doesn't mean disassembling the engine again.....but I digress!   As is so often the way when faced with a troublesome rebuild the solution has been to give in to temptation to buy another bike......!!!

Headlight

Forums

What is the correct diameter for a headlamp for a jubilee. My headlamp shell measures 6” diameter, but the replacement reflectors on offer seem to be 61/2 or 7 inch. Any advice would be welcome.

Oil return

Forums

I have read somewhere that a modification was made to the return fitting in the oil tank during production of the lightweights, a restrictor to encourage oil up to the cylinder?  It carried over to the heavyweights, or the other way around?

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks.

Jubilee pistons

Forums

Ive recently removed the pistons from a 1960 engine. the only visable mark on the crown is a letter B. No markings to say they are a plus oversized. Anyone know what the letter B is. There is a very slight concave in the crown, is this normal.

thanks John.

Oil breather

Forums

Now that I have got my Jubilee engine reliably kicking over, I noticed that the pipe above the drive sprocket (see picture) is producing oil (which is now all over the patio). After some research in the Compendium) I note that this is the breather pipe on my early engine and that it should be connected to the top of the oil tank. A couple of questions:

The pipe in the photo is sheared off, can anyone confirm that part 23367 in the catalogue is the correct replacement?
