Cylinder Head Clamp Plates

Forums

I’m rebuilding my jubilee (early engine) following both the manual and Mike Marriott’s photo guide. In frame 5 of the guide it says to “prize cylinder head clamp plates (washers below) from heads”. I’m putting together a basket case and can’t identify any likely parts. While the parts list lists them, they don’t appear on the exploded diagram. Can anyone provide a photo or drawing of the clamping plates please? What function do they perform? I would be most grateful for any advice. Mike Formby

petrol tap

Forums

In the NOC shop part no. SS14 C3 041323L is described as "Petrol tap: Lightweights only: 7/16 petrol tank thread - Use 1/8 BSP fittings: Lever type: All metal plated brass, New". I have bought one as my old push-pull tap continued to leak even with a new cork insert. The description is incorrect and has mislead me. I have found that the petrol tank thread is 1/8 BSP and the 7/16 thread is the one on the outlet. Unfortunately I have bought a Dowty washer that now won't fit the tank end of the tap and a 1/8 BSP spigot and nut that don't fit the outlet.

Rocker spindle

Forums

Good morning all.  I've been doing some work on the cylinder heads of my Navigator.  I see that the "inner pillars" that support the rocker spindles have top hat shaped bushes pressed in to place, see photos.

Any ideas on the purpose of these bushes?

Jubilee Big Bang engine

Forums

Hi All,

Before I start, yes I accept buyer beware and that I have been well and truly conned. However, has anyone heard of any enterprising engineer trying to make a Big Bang Jubilee engine? When I bought my little Norton the V5 stated that it was a 500cc, hmmm I thought, a slight error by somebody. Today I have taken the heads off and was surprised to find that the pistons come up the bore together, now I’m an electrician but should they not alternate? Has someone tried to make a Big Bang engine? Please see the attached photo.

Terry seat clip Deluxe

Forums

I need new seat fixings, mines the older type seat. Does anyone know the length of the Terry seat clip. Parts have them in stock. According to my measurement the distance between the top of the suspension retaining bolt and the bottom of the seat is 95mm. Would the one parts sell fit, in the picture it looks smaller.

Thanks

John.

Jubilee Deluxe side panels

Forums

In preparing my Deluxe side panels for spraying I noticed that the bottom of the left panel flares out, but not the right panel. At first I thought the panel was bent, looking at some pictures on the net it looks like this could be intentional to clear the brake, would that be correct.

Thanks

John.

Jubilee Deluxe seat

Forums

I now need to get my old seat sorted, the seat pan is one is the early types with terry clips. Heard lots of good reports from people who have used Leightons.

Noticed that number of Jubilees including mine have a gap between the bottom of the seat and top rail, do the new seats have a small curtain around the bottom of the seat to cover the gap. The only way I can think of to close the gap a bit is to elongate/alter the frame fixings where the side panel fixings connect. Has anyone else managed to close the gap.

Thanks

John.
