Electra Clutch Cam Lifter

Forums

I've spent a couple hours or more on the internet over the last few days looking for an Electra Clutch Lifter Cam-plate Assembly part #048195 to no avail.  Norvil says they might have one but the guy who knows is gone for a couple weeks.  If anyone knows of someone who might have one I'd really appreciate the info.  (and I promise I'll remember asking for this help. LOL)

Hello Noccers -  Today I’ve  been out to rescue a Norton Navigator after its 30 years in a barn  looking sorry for its self.  Now it’s in my nice warm shed awaiting rebuilding back to it’s former glory.  She was built in June 1961, registered in the London area and somehow ended up in North Yorkshire in a barn for 30 odd years.  It’s seized up with standing that long,  but despite some parts missing like the rear chain guard and silencer it's mostly all there and untouched - so it will be interesting to see what lies beneath the thick dust and oily grime.  Yours  Anna J

Fuel tap with reserve to fit a Navigator?

Forums

Can anyone recommend a good quality fuel tap (not one with a dreaded cork seal!) with a reserve setting which fits straight into the Navigator fuel tank and looks appropriately ‘period’?    I know I should be more diligent over keeping tabs on how much is in the tank on a long run but I’m fed up with running out of fuel......!

Cheers, Nick

Nominal Piston / Bore sizes Electra

Forums

I am slowly working through some issues with the Electra a bought around a year ago and have moved on to looking at why it smokes quite badly when running. Having taken the barrels off I can see a few issues, for example the piston rings on one side appear to be upside down and there are random scratch marks on the bores that look like somebody has been trying to clean then up with emery paper.

lightweight rotor size

Forums

Working on an Electra that was pulled apart by a Norton dealer in Kansas many years ago so things could be a bit mixed up. With the engine mainly finished I am now looking at the primary drive. With the sprocket and rotor on the engine shaft I find they overhang the end of the shaft by about 1/4 in, this prevents the dogs in the starter engaging. I think the sprocket is the correct one but not sure on the rotor. The rotor is 1  1/4 in wide the part no on it is 06720 which is different than the one in the Norton book. If this is the wrong rotor what are the options.

Electra Gearbox Assembly

Forums

I am currently only able to get two gears when shifting my '65 Electra.  Since I'm not sure the gearbox was assembled correctly before I received the bike, I'd like to take everything out of the case and put it back in together properly.  While the assembly instructions in the Norton manual are pretty clear, about where each gear goes it doesn't specifically say which striker fork is supposed to engage gear (3) shown in the assembly diagram (fig.
