A technical forum for Commandos
Speedo gearbox has given up the ghost (I think - happy to be educated). I've reseated the cable but still no cable action at all spinning the wheel. Are they worth repairing or just another part of my order to Andover Norton?
'72 Commando 750 (Combat)
I only get a very weak spark with a Pazon EI (you need magnifying glasses to see it!). When the bike is running, it runs very well (although I'm only in a breaking in period and haven't exceeded 3800 rpm).
I picked up the '72 Commando that I had won at the HJ Pugh auction on Friday. The handwritten notes in the file said that the engine. was rebuilt by Walcott Engineering in 2020 and that it had 15 miles of running in.
I want to rebuild my wheels with stainless spokes and rims, but I am getting a lot of conflicting information when I research spoke patterns, offset, gauge, length and bend.
Hi Everyone,
I joined the club last month and finally got my hands on a Mk.3 yesterday, couldn't be happier!
I have just had the tacho drive in pieces to replace the oil seal and noticed a curious arrangement of washers on the little widget ( I've since seen it referred to as a Spade?) that transfers the drive from the engine to the tacho drive cable.
Hi all, this is my first post and my first Norton. The model is a 1975 mk 3 electric start. As far as I can tell it is 99% original and has 6000 miles on the clock from new which I believe is genuine.
Hi All.
Just stripped the head down on my commando and found the valve guides badly worn.
Can anyone recommend someone in the Northwest near wigan, who reconditions and fits new valve guides to nortons.
Graham
I have an 850 Mk 2A, first registered on 1/3/74. I am addressing the tacho drive that has just started leaking after some years trouble free running.
