Looking for a gasket cover RH who can order through??
Hi - Now it's spring, getting around to the first engine and gearbox change since I have had the bike. I have Richard Coote's great notes and the service manual - all seems straight forward - except my gearbox oil filling plug is different to what is shown in either the notes or manuals (pic attached) - is it just a vent pipe to be disconnected first? A Mk 2 modification? Thanks.
It’s an annual event ( apart from last two years) at this pub , on the border of Leicestershire & Northamptonshire , a bunch of 961 s joined in 2018/19 with around 12/13 rolling up , kindly invited by the local NOC group , so get on down chaps to
the wharf inn
Welford Northampton NN6 6JQ England
All sorts of nortons there when I attended 4 years ago , a good to destination for sure , see yer there .
Have a general question noticed oil leaking out of grommet going into crank case. I think I need new gasket around case but where to get? any insight ? please see picture attached.. not sure if I’m getting reverse pressure inside
I bought a 2019 961 last year - only a few hundred on the clock, no service / inspections carried out at all. I'm up to around 4,000 miles and it runs like a dream really - but leaks oil. Not really leaks - just oozes out and coats the entire engine.
I just wondered if anyone would tell me how to fit a front paddock stand to a mk 11 961. The stands I have seen have the twin spigot cradle type that fits at the base of the fork. However, I am concerned this may break off the front ABS sensor. What would you recommend I use?
NOC 961 Register If you're lucky enough to own a 961 Commando and would like to partake in helping to build up a club database please could you forward the following preferred information to:- 961register@nortonownersclub.org and I can then add the information to the database.:
General photo of the bike (as an email attachment) Model (SE, Sport, California etc) Edition number if applicable I.e 8/200 Engine number + photo (preferred) Frame number + photo (preferred) Colour
Norton boss Hentschel on the MCN website:
"...the parallel twin 961 Commando also under the microscope and currently not listed as models on the company website. Hentschel explained: "I would like to finalise at the end of this year, a clear view on whether we go ahead with the 961. That’s still an open question because we’re looking at the re-engineering of that bike."
So the Commando might not be dead after all?
PS as somebody else commented elsewhere in another forum, looks like we need a post- Donnington tab for the list of forum topics!
Hi,
Just a heads up, I receive messages via three email accounts, two Facebook accounts (personal and business), Whatsapp and good old fashioned calls/texts. Currently I'm working two jobs, along with house renovation work....add to this occasionally a NOC members email ends up in a junk folder, where its quickly lost amongst the daily barrage of double glazing sales, recruitment agencies and suchlike.....so sometimes I do drop the ball and leave someone hanging. Its never intentionally.
