I have just finished re-assembling and re-fitting the Sturmey Archer box I was asking about the other day. I've gone to fit the clutch and already found another problem...When I tighten up the centre nut to hold the main body on the main shaft it pulls in on the spline until it hits the sleeve gear and locks the whole thing up solid. There doesn't appear to be a shoulder on the shaft or in the clutch body to tighten up against. Am I missing something? Or have I got a mix of parts that don't quite work together?
Any suggestions?Thanks in advance
Andy

Could be wrong parts but also some problems caused by overtightening clutch nut and weak register inside the AMC type clutch spider/center allowing the clutch to ride too far up the shaft.I solved this by buying a new spider from RGM which has a full circle stop inside. Some orriginals don't have this.Your center looks different but may be suffering similar issues.
