I too cannot picture in my mind what you are describing.

I am familiar with the "flat lever type", the single pull/push type, and the twin pull/push type.

But I cannot picture in my mind what you are describing as the

"on and off for the reserve lever, just above the push pull"

A photo would be most usefull at this point.

1/4" Benton & Stone (Enots) hexagON taps were fitted to Norton road-going singles for many years - the same both sides as the tank halves were not linked so the second side acts as a reserve once the level drops below the tunnel.

The type with a reserve lever were often fitted by AMC.

I have one of these on order from Villiers - hoping it will arrive today or tomorrow. A single tap with a reserve position is the only way to get a reserve facility for a Dommie or Lightweight (not sure about the singles). Commandos have two taps, so there is not the sameissue.

As soon as it arrives I will carry out a check and post again, assuming someone hasn't already found the answer...

Ok mate, but the reserve only seems to work with the main tap on, so I cant check t easily, not without draining the tank, which is nearly full

Sorry Anna, not correct.

My Model 7 and ES2 both have the push/pull type taps fitted. This setup can clearly be seen in the 55 catalogue images of the Model 7. It is a twin tap system with link pipe so one side of the tank acts as reserve.

Line the lever up with the word reserve and it will access the fuel below the stack pipe (provided the main tap is on) The photo shows reserve off

My tap has now arrived and it looks identical to the one in the picture Bob posted. I concur with Dave Evan's post, the picture shows the main tank flow 'on'. If you look closely you can see the letters 'RES' in the picture so with a bit of luck, if yours is from the same manufacturer, it should have that stamped by the lever too.

You'll see that one end has a hexagon and the other end is round. The way to remember is hexagON i.e. push the hexagon for on. Hope this helps.

Yes its the same, doesnt work though, get about a cupfull on reserve!! Is yours ok, I might order a new one.

Marcus, something doesn't read correct here, you say your tank is nearly full, but you only can get a cup full out with the reserve tap in the ON position. Have you tried removing the tank cap to equalise the air pressure as the fuel drains? With the reserve tap on, you should be able to completely drain the tank.

Yes mate, the whole story might help! i have used the petrol and got down to reserve, only just made it home, so put in a few pints, petrol tap on drained off, then onto reserve and only a dribble, cleaned tap and all looks ok, maybe worn inside, allowing petrol through , tried a few times, so new tap I guess,
