Non Norton question

Hi all, an elderly gentleman I know by sight stopped to talk to me today. He has suffered from cancer for a few years but now, at the age of 75, he says he feels a little better and asked whether I could help with info on a 1929 35occ SV Royal Enfield he purchased a few years ago. He gave mea photo of the machine - it looks OK. He stated that it needs a new camshaft and ther's a problem with the geabox and clutch. Have any of you any idea as to who I (or he) could contact for any info? The RE Owners Club would appear to be the obvious answer but their website is not easy to navigate etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I guess the RE OC really would be best, but try Hitchcock's, they're the main Royal Enfield dealer with lots of knowledge and maybe the parts (or know where to get them)

I have a very good friend who is a long time Royal Enfield expert, he's willing to look if some photos can be posted (or sent to me). He'll try and address any questions as well.

Hi Bruce, thanks for the offer of help. I've attached a photo that may help. All that I know is that it's a 1929 350cc Side Valave model. The owner knows it needs a new camshaft(s). He also wants to know more about the gearbox. He thinks it's a three-speed unit - possibly Sturmey Archer. RE did tend to make a lot of their own parts thus it could be a RE 'box. He also would like to know more about the clutch actuation. I'll contact Hitchcocks and see if they can help.

Hi Mark

I passed on the photo and comments, if the owner has email give him mine and we'll see what we can do for him. I suspect the REOC is the best bet for an expert on these bikes - my friend has a pre-war bike as well but not this early.

cheers, Bruce

I am also a Royal Enfield owner ('63 and '65 Interceptors) and sent an email to the REOC asking if there is a model specialist who could address his issues.
