new Lucas alternator stator

Forums

Hi all

Has anyone had any issues ( melt down of the insulation) using new Lucas alternator stator and new rotor clearly marked as Lucas

I've checked  both bore/rotor and have a diameter difference of  .043" , so I'm quite happy with a .020"plus air gap each side

the reason I'm asking is I had a Wassell stator  melt about five years ago and had to machine both parts to clean the burnt crap off

I've also noticed that Wassell has the lucas brand ,So I don't know whether the new stuff I've got is up to much

Hello  Have you seen the movie footage on YouTube  of a Atlas with a CID flywheel Ignition and lighting coils  from a Pit Bike 125cc  cost 20 pounds  and works  with some brain power and a bit of engineering   All mounted in the old Lucas alternator space    and as a CDI ignition control  box  twin coils  wasted spark system     yours  anna j

Go to TMS Motorcycles and buy a UK made (but not marked Lucas) alternator, these were made by LAP who were ex Lucas employees and use the original tooling. There is a drip drip of current Lucas marked alternators burning out so I will only buy NOS or LAP made alternators.

There are other stockists but tracking them down is hard so I stick with TMS.
