Long Range Tank for a '72 Roadster

Forums

Hi all,

What other Norton Commando tank could I fit to my '72 roadster to gain more miles between petrol stations?

Thanks and regards - Paul.

As I understand it, here are your options:

1. Get an Interstate tank, sidecovers and seat

2. Get a "Long Range Fastback" tank. I do not know if you have to replace the seat to do this.

3. Get an Interpol tank. These usually have a cut out section in it for a police radio but I have seen that cut out filled in and looking quite nice.

I'm sure that if there are other options someone else will chime in.

The Roadster tank holds about 2.2 gallons but is very short. The easiest tank to fit would be the Interstate (4.5 or 5 gallons depending on steel or GRP) and that would only involve changing the seat as well. The Fastback is three gallons and needs a seat, tail fairing and different rear mudguard and brackets. The rare Fastback Long Range tank is 4 gallons and may fit with your original seat though will look a little odd. I found this tank to be a poor fit, resonated badly and got rid of it pretty quickly.
