I haven't got a later sin…
I haven't got a later single but on my WD16H, 46 Model 18 and 49 ES2, there are no timing marks on the cams. I have just picked out the best of 6 cams for a 46 engine, none of which have any timing marks. I can only assume that any of these 40's engines with marks have been applied by an owner. I usually mark them with red paint.

Thanks for info Dave. Must make one of those engine cradles for winter when I have the engine out and play with a timing disc and the three keyways. John

Each keyway is in a slightly different position from the teeth so the valve timing can be adjusted more accurately that 1 tooth of the cam wheels.
