Hi
I have recently been handed a Norton Dominator 650ss.
I am not up to speed on all the terminology like Slimline or Wideline Featherbed.
How do you know what frame it is as it does not say exactly what model it is on the V5 document.
It says Norton 650, i need to buy a lot of parts for this machine to get it back to it's original state so need to know exactly what it is.
Will the Factory Record Certificate clarify all this information?

009 is a slimline. 010 is a wideline.
Slimline upper frame tubes much narrower in the middle. Also note the different mounting lugs for shocks. A wideline is (in my opinion) more goodlooking but the slimline is a more comfortable ride.
If it has matching frame and engine numbers, you have a slimline.

Craig, the obvious thing with a Wideline is that the top frame tubes are basically parallel and the Slimline has the top tubes narrowed in under the back of the tank, therefore making it more comfortable. The picture shows a Slimline frame. Phil.

Hello, Witch all 650s were fitted into a slimline frame from November 7th 1960 the first one has been found in Chicago, these first batch of 330 was exported from Liverpool to New Jersey on the 13thof January 1961 and docked in New Jersey by the 23rd of January1961 the USA dealer was Joe Berliner motors of New Jersey, If you want to know your build date the Factory records will not give this, has all factory records have the dispatchdate, To find your build date is stamp marked on the frame . on the top LUG for the Head steady across the top edge, Its Stamped in very small Numbers and Letters, Like my Norton Manxman 650, states M/12/60 . this is how its stamped marked, yours Anna J Dixon

Could be a slimline or wideline by now, the frame number will clear things up.
