Clutch pushrod removal N15CS

Forums

Hi

Do you need to remove the clutch pushrod before using the clutch pulling tool?

If so, i wonder if anyone can explain how you remove the pushrod? I have disconnected the clutch cable. There is about 5mm play on the pushrod at present, but it seems that there is something preventing it from coming out....

Cheers

Hi.

Yes, it would be advisable.

It should just pull out. Try pulling it from the other end. The (either) end of the rod may have 'mushroomed' a bit over the years especially if someone had neglected to adjust the mechanism with some free-play - either that - or it's severely bent.

Cheers.

Hello Ian

Thank you for your comment. It seemed that the pushrod wa ' fused ' (?) to the ball housed in the main clutch shaft on the RHS of the bike. So I played around with the main shaft on RHS, and then suddenly and for no apparent reason the pushrod came free. It was straight with no damage.

All the best

John
