Changing dynamo 99 from 6V to 12V

Forums

I'm struggling with reconstituting the electrics on my 1957 Dommi 99 and wonder if anyone has experience of changing a dynamo Dommi from 6volts to 12volts. The regulator and battery would need changing, presumably, but the advantages would be great. Help!

Tom,

there is a recent-ish discussion along these lines in the Electrical section.

As with a lot of things the conclusion on whether it is worthwhile is a matter of opinion.

Essentially, you need a 12v armature and 12v field coil and an electronic voltage regulator. Then it's just battery and bulbs. I reckon it's worthwhile having done it. Rural roads after dark in the rain now hold rather fewer terrors. As suggested, take a look at the discussion under electrical. Gordon.
