Hi I am at present restoring my 1951 Big 4, can anyone tell me the size of the rear stand fitting bolts?

Thanks Brian.

Hi as I have not had a reply in seven weeks, perhaps I am the only member with a 1951 rigid Norton Big4 perhaps if I re-phrase my question?

can anyone tell me the size of the rear stand fitting bolts for a rigid ES2, 16H, etc.

Thanks Brian.

Hello Brian,

i have a spreadsheet of fixing sizes for a WD16H (cant remember where from i downloaded it from) which lists the bolt/nut as 7/16ths x 20TPI. Doesn't give a length but that should be easily measurable. Happy to forward the spreadsheet on if it is of any interest.

My 16H has been Indianised and has metric bolts there.

Just had a look on Ken McIntosh's website and he has them available off the shelf.

Hello Brian,

Just to confirm that the bolt you require is:

7/16" 20tpi BSCYOverall Length of bolt (including domed head) - 1 5/8"Length of bolt (beneath head) - 1 3/16"Length of threaded section - 1/2"Hex head spanner size - 5/16" WW (3/8 BS)

I have attached a picture of the bolt, this one came out of my factory original 1949 16h, so it sholud be the exact fitment for your 1951 Big4, I hope this helps.

Best Regards,Karl.
