Battery retaining rubber straps

Forums

Having bought two battery retaining straps from Andover , I'm having a dickens of a job securing them in the corresponding 2 holes in my 72 Commando Batter carrier

They have a stepped hook which seems to easily pull out whichever way you put them in

I'm on the verge of drilling the metal strap parts  and fitting 2 small nut and bolts

Has anyone else had this problem  ?

Yes, your solution is one, Velcro is another. It's good that Andover remake these lost parts to factory drawings but there are a few times they need to consider why were they not available. In this case it's because they do not work, never did and unchanged never will.

I agree with John, they never work.

What works for me is a couple of cable ties and a rubber loop cut from an old inner tube.

Good luck.

On my Dommy I use an old leather buckled strap ,probably from a pair of Jacko skates or bike rack 50 years old, seemingly indestructible ,fireproof and infinately adjustable, eco friendly and free.

06.1662 it is the hole that locates on the battery bar, not the open section under the hole. This may help. Some put finger in loop and try and extend it too far.

I've just replaced my battery strap and I thought how come it keeps pulling off, what as I doing wrong?

I just brought the strap back after bringing the strap under and over and returned it back and lo and behold my battery strap slips no more

Hope this helps
