Primary case oil drain CLASSIC

Forums

Hello all my first post! LE93 Classic Rotary

Just bought a low mileage classic. Went through Richard N's workshop a few years back but not used much since. Ive put 200 miles on it yesterday but there is a death rattle about 4,000 rpm and when coming to a halt

Im investigating and found what looks like an EMPTY  drain plug hole in the primary case....not mentioned in ant of the books I have as a drain hole

Should there be a plug here..I assume so and my death rattle I guess is the primary caes devoid of oil

Any comments please??  BUGGER !!

oh right that explains it . Just seemed odd.

In a way good but in another way bad ...my bike still has a "death rattle" and no idea what is wrong...sounds sort of like primary chain as on overrun and when throttle "static" at about 4,000 rpm

Thought it might be no oil in primary and missing drain plug.

I will investigate the primary drive though. ANY ideas welcome

If its the same as a Commander, it may be that the hydraulic primary chain tensioner is partially jammed. Not difficult to check with the outer primary chaincase removed.
