Vernier Mag Sprocket

Forums

In the course of rebuilding my Inter motor, I bought a vernier mag sprocket from....now I can't remember, must have been at least 5 years ago.  It was listed for long stroke Manx(not showing # of teeth) and my parts books showed it as the same part for the Inter so I bought it and stashed it away only now pulling it out to install.    Lo and behold, it's 18 tooth instead of the 15 tooth required. So what does this fit?

Thanks,

Mike

.....open the package and inspect on arrival. Too late to return now. Must have gotten it from Molnar. Someone there screwed up or it's just listed incorrectly. Ah, well. Thanks Arne.

Hi Michael,

I think the confusion here is that definition of the term long-stroke. The early Manx up to 1950 used the 15t sprocket, the same as the Inter. With the introduction of the featherbed Manx in 1951 the whole engine was redesigned but retained the 79.62mm x 100mm long-stroke dimensions and this was when the sprocket was changed to 18t. I don't think Andy Molnar makes many parts for early engines unless they are the same as the later ones. You should be able to re-sell it O.K.
