I see AMAL sell lightweight springs (intended for 600 series triple concentric carbs). The standard spring number is the same for 600 and 900, so I'm considering buying a pair for my twin 900 series 28mm.
I wonder if there is a much bigger risk of slide not dropping back? They aren't a problem at present. Is it a worthwhile change? They are hard work at present.

Yes it's a risk, so use an anodised or chrome plated slide and also never overtighten the carb mounting nuts to eliminate the risk. Then use the springs.
