Hi Tony,

I've only ever taken a featherbed swinging arm out of a bare frame but if there's room then the same principles apply with an assembled machine. Obviously all of the attached parts, drive-chain, wheel, chain-guard suspension units etc and anything else to give more room to work must be removed. The bolted on cross-tube above the swinging arm must also be loosened to allow a little more space between the gusset plates. Remove the swinging arm spindle and if there is room, (I've just checked mine and I'm still not certain), the swinging arm would have to be manouvered forwards and then downwards. When re-assembling, dont forget to position the swinging arm at the mid-point of the suspension arc while tightening the gusset plate spindles to give equal movement up and down for the silentbloc bushes.

Regards, Robert Gittins.
