I'm just getting to reassembling my short roadholders, but am puzzled as to how the headlight mounting tubes are fixed in place, I can see that there should be a rubber ring at the top but nothing else to secure them. what stops them wrigling and vibrating about?

Hmmmm. no reduced diameter on the headlight shroud, no way it will fit into the lower shroud. Any suggestions as how to secure it other than a screw into the lower yolk?

This is the problem with many so-called replica parts. They don't have the reduced section to slot into the lower shroud. As you see from Chris's reply there isn't actually any positive fixing for the headlamp brackets themselves. They are just a friction fit into the top rubbers and lower shroud and the headlamp effectively holds up its own shoelaces - to borrow a metaphor! Even less positive if they don't fit into the lower shroud like yours. I think I would avoid screws of any sort - how about Gaffa Tape?

I had the same issue - use the top rubber and then high density adhesive backed foam around the slider above the shroud. Absolutely central and rock solid. You can't notice when assembled.

Genuine headlamp shrouds have a reduced diameter on the bottom which locates in the top of the lower shroud which are in turn screwed to the bottom yoke.The top rubbers stop upward movement and of course the headlamp stops them rotating
