Rev counter drive housing oil seal

Just measure the hole diameter and depth where the seal goes, and measure the diameter of the shaft. With that information a bearing shop should be able to fix you up.

Hi all. Back in the early 90's I had an oil seal conversion done on my rev counter drive housing. This conversion was done by Fred Barlow of FBS motorcycles. The seal has worked magnificently until now. The seal was difficult to remove as its steel rim was siezed in the housing and I destroyed it beyond recognition during removal. I was hoping to take it to a seal supplier to match it to a new one but that idea went out the window. I understand that Fred of FBS is sadly no longer with us so I was hoping that a NOC member may be able to identify the seal and where I might get a replacement from.

Hi Peter, just saw your message re an FBS tacho drive oil seal conversion - I had one done by Fred on my Mark 111, again, during the early 1990's. When my oil seal needed replacing, I bought one from Norvil. It was a (slightly) slack fit in the tacho housing which had been machined by Fred. I seem to remember fitting the Norvil seal in place with a spot of Loctite all round it. It's never leaked and it was a case of 'fit and forget'. So can recommend this course of action.
