Early and late frame differences/weaknesses

Following on from the other thread this is a pic of the early and late frame member side by side, the late type is at the front you can see that one of the engine mountings is in a different place.

That's worth knowing. Your original frame member looks to have been welded before as well as having the damage to the mounting hole. It's still worth keeping as it can be repaired fairly easily. Useful to have if you fit an alternative engine - like an R6..You're not hacking up a good original item.

That's bad service from Nortonbits supplying the wrong clutch bits. If any of the Dominator clutch bits fit the Jubilee it will be the later Dominator from 1959 on. I was dubious about Nortonbits ads as they listed the earlier pre 1959 Dominator clutch plate as fitting the lightweight.

The PO had the frame member "professionally" repaired ... yeah right! It looked like a spider did the welding! But if you look it cracked on both sides above the swinging arm mounting, not sure about an R6 engine but my spare YZ400 might be fun!
