Next issue....
the caps on my Conrods are not even a close to the same contour as the rods and having read the service and tuning notes it states "The con-rod caps can be filed so that their end contour matches that of the con-rods themselves , but some caps are a very near match as supplied"
my questoin is do I file them to match or not. I assume if I remove this much material the crankshaft balance will be affected and as I live in UAE I won't be able to get it balanced here.
the other issue I have is the small ends have quite a bit of corrosion on them. Can I safely clean this up without compromising the rod strength.
the bike will be used as a street bike and won't be thrashed to often....
Thanks again
Dean

Dean you can polish them with autosol or metal polish useing wet and dry.take out all scraches and nicks try not to remove more than you have to.Then put them on scales so they mach to the gram.Your crank is independently balanced so wont go out of balance. In fact its an improvement.

Corrosion cleaned up nicely. Took a bit more than just polish. A bit of sanding. Now all good and weight perfect to the gram. Cheers
