Atlas clutch issue

Forums

Working on the primary area I notice a bright wear marks on the inside faces of the clutch drum where the plain plates sit. like indents on the center (from the friction plates) these will surely make it hard for the plates to lift. I don't know whether these are Gen Norton plates or pattern but the plates are a tight fit in the drum although the tongues are loose in the drum slots. How much clearance is normal? The drum bearing seems ok with little clearance and the plain plates have lots of clearance from the clutch center. Its going to be a big filing job to make clearance.

I had a similar problem on a Domi clutch caused by ill-fitting pattern plates. Cure: I gave the plates to someone else and bought proper ones!
