Wheel builder in the South West

Forums

Hi all, an anyone recommend a good wheel builder in the Somerset / Dorset area who can supply a new stainless steel rim and spokes and rebuild my Navigator rear wheel?   I used Dave Massam last year who did a brilliant job on my front wheel but I hear he has stopped trading sadly.    I appreciate we are in lock down but knowing lead times for spares I want to plan ahead!

Cheers.  Nick

Very tempted Anna and if I was retired I probably would but time is a significant factor at the moment given pressure of work generated by the Covid19 crisis!

Thanks for the suggestion John, I was thinking of Devon rims for the parts.  Do you have contact details for Doug Richardson, I can't find him in the NOC list of services?   Has anyone used Steve Somerfield / SJS Vintage motorcycles near Dorchester?   He is the nearest wheel builder to me listed by the club.

I used Brickwood wheel rebuilds just outside Salisbury for my Inter. They were very good. The chap usually has a stand at the Shepton autojumbles/show.

His contact details come up on google.

WheelsI can recommend Ed King in Chard (JEK motorcycles) , he did a great job on my ES2 wheels, I think he charged £50 plus rim and spokes.  He has a Facebook page.  https://m.facebook.com/JEK-Motorcycles-229175793765317/#_=_  or website http://www.jekmotorcycles.co.uk/

Doug Richardson in South Molton is also excellent. He was one of the founders of Devon Rims I think, but works on his own now.  http://drwheelbuilding.com/

Hi Dan, Ed King looks like the perfect choice, only a couple of miles away in Chard and he is obviously 'our kind of mechanic' who understands Nortons, I will give him a bell!   I hope the various restorations are coming on during the lock down - once it ends we must meet up for a coffee and discuss Lightweight Law!!!   Nick
