I bought one, might not be correct, I can't figure out how/where in goes, and can't find a photo. IA pic would be so helpful.

Does this help?
I was confused as well. Note washer goes behind spindle, not between frame and nut.

Brake spring
Look on page 38 of the Norton 1961/62 spares parts book and you will see the rear brake pedal and how the spring is assembled. This is for the slimline featherbed frames.

Thanks Michael
Helps a lot, but not with the spring I was sent! More like a hairpin.

Hairpin spring?
The only hairpin spring I recall is the one that goes on the inside of the gearbox cover.

If you look on.....
......the backside/inside of the pivot bore on the pedal, you should see a hole where the pin of the spring engages.

The attachment shows the early Dominator Rear Brake plate with Return Spring in situ. I have a feeling that this spring only fits on certain versions of the rear plate as one end of the spring is fixed by a pin. Possibly it only applied to those rear brake plates that used a torque arm.
I do not recall these rear springs being a feature of any post-1960 Nortons apart from the Commando which had its own version of this item.
