My new commando notes book has arrived. Its a shame that the commando R is missing from 1969 notes. The Commando R was the stop gap bike which led to the roadster. There were only about 650 made and most went to Canada and America.
Like I say, its a shame that this bike always seems to be missed out.

Hi Tim, the Commando notes book is really informative. It must have taken some dedication to put it together.
There is some information on the owners club site about the R in the commando model section.
There is some information in the sales brochure books which the club produced a couple of years ago.
I have some information from Simon Amos who works at Andover Norton about quanties built and a few other details.
And I have a Commando R which I need to rebuild at some point.

The advantage of print on demand is that our publications can be added to and amended. Mark Woodward has done a great job in putting the Commando Service Notes together. No-one has complete knowledge of any subject, but if information on the R type Commando is available, it can be included in the future.
