Fiberglass tank sealer conundrum

For the longest time there has been numbers of postings about the ability to repair the fiberglas tanks on the Commandos. There have been postings about the effectiveness, or lack of, various products, i.e. Caswell, POR-15, Slosh, Kreem, Pet-seal, etc....

Question: with so many owners with this concern, cannot the Executive Committee undertake a comprensive set of tests to see what is the best way to repair a leaking fiberglass tank? I do not believe that it would be a major expense item to source a number of leaking tanks (I am sure that members with tanks that have been replaced would be glad to donate said leaking tanks to the Club for this testing) and kits.

A group would have to be recruited to make the tests. And, the test would have to be done in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

Certainly, new steel tanks are an excellant solution to the problem but the expense can be a put-off.

Is the proposed testing feasible???? Is "The Club" willing to undertake it?

Sounds like a lot more trouble than starting again and buying steel tanks. I suspect most people sort themselves out according to how much they want to spend. As these machines are getting more and more valuable it's probably a good investment.

Not such a good investment with incompatible fuel.

A good idea would be for the club to collect all ruined tanks and take them to the Department for Transport and ask them what they are going to do about it? I will gladly support the club in this.

Will the club support affected riders property? MAG and FBHVC have been of no help in supporting E0 fuel or helping resolve damaged property through contaminated fuel.
