Gearbox inner cover nuts.

Forums

Evening all,

I am coming to the end of a gearbox rebuild and will shortly be securing the inner cover. A couple of the nuts were a a trick to remove due to lack of space for either a spanner or my socket.

I did see, some time ago, a thread where somebody recommended a technique/tool to tighten these little tykes but have been unable to find it again. Any ideas?

Help very much appreciated.

ISTR that these are 5/16" Cycle. It's possible to get reduced hexagon nuts in this size (. Nooky's Nuts among others can supply these and they make getting a 3/8" drive socket in much easier. Use with flat washers.

Andover and RGM have them. Also don't forget the good old fashioned box spanner. Slimmer than any socket.
