99 electrical failure

Forums

I have a usually reliable 1961 Dominator 99 which now hastotal electrical failure. It happened after I moved the newcombined horn/dipswitch which may or maynot be relevent. I have changed the fuse, checked all accessible connectors and charged the battery but no improvement. I also checked the wiring to the ignition switch and light switch which is all good. The bike has a 12v Boyer powerbox which no longer shows any lightsand aninductive discharge ignition and has had a professionalrewire a few years ago. I have no idea what has happened or what to do next. Any ideas, however weird, gratefully received.

The replacement style combined dip switches are a close fit inside, had a similar problem of blowing fuses. Removed the cover and the earth is gone, check wires and all is correct, fit cover and fuse blows. It took some time to fathom out. They only other check is to disconnect all wiring from the battery and start checking, moving out from the battery end of the loom, then with battery still disconnected try the same with switches on the on positions one at a time, side light, headlight etc allowing for the resistance through the lamps or just remove them whilst checking.
