Lucas light switch

Forums

Whilst checking for a lighting defect I found that a PO has bypassed the non-switching connections on the light switch (possibly a U39 with seven connections) and connected direct. For example the dip switch connection on connection 7 has been bypassed and the cable connected (via a connector) direct to the lamp. What are the pros and cons of this. Should I revert it to how it should be? Was it done initially just to keep the inside of the shell clear of connectors?
