Ewarts petrol tap

Sorting thro my taps  (what else to do?)    I find a single plunger main and reserve  with filter in perfect condition.  The only problem is that the tank thread is smaller and finer than the bottom !/4 bsp.    I'm thinking this is 1/8 bsp or gas.   What  tank would it fit?    stamped Ewarts UK PAT 758264&ABROAD.    I'm also sorting the  late Atlas tap   which looks like the double plunger type that Triumph fit, What did AMC fit at the end of production?

on the tanks of mid 50s singles, but the ones I'm familiar with have a banjo connection at the bottom and no reserve.

1/8 bsp into tank.

Hi Nick,

I've fitted the modern tap and 90 degree outlet fitting listed on the NOC Shop.

The original Ewarts pull-for-on was so stiff it seemed to flex the bottom of the tank when opening. And it leaked after a while.

The rotary on-off in modern material is much better.

If anyone can find a similar rotary tap with reserve function to fit the Lightweight tank thread (1/8 BSP) let us know please. Not many bikes use this small thread. Bantams did. Other Nortons and most British are 1/4 BSP connection to the tank.

Happy riding

Peter

Cheers

Robert,

My 1927 Model 18 flat tank has a 1/8" BSP thread, so you can find a Model 18 as well as a Lightweight!

Robert - I have a lightweight in need of a tap if you’d like to sell it!
