My 1957 600cc Dominator 99 is rapidly approaching it's complete rebuild following a con rod thro' the crankcase on September 12th 1970. (I'm not known for rushing)
It will be far from concourse but I have tried to keep it as standard as possible and the majority is original.
What I'm trying to find out is the original transfers which it would have. I know of the 'Max oil level' and Primary chain case transfers but would like the correct ones for the rear mudguard and if there would be a 'Made in England' (and whether script or block text and where it was on the bike)
There may have been others but my memory is fading.
Anyone with an original bike or photo's please help.
Waiting in anticipation,
Dick Hudson

Transfers
Hi Dick
Mine is a 1959 model 99 rebuilt some time ago to an excellent standard by an individual in Cardiff and I believe a member who has a number of current Norton etc. I believe he would have restored bike as standard given its great condition.
I have the following from a visit to my garage.
Model 99 transfer centred on rear mudguard just before extension for rear number plate and brake light
Registered design number transfer on frame just behind battery box nearside set vertically
Norton oil bath transfer on primary chain case
Road holder metal badges on each of front forks left and right of headlight and just below on front
Norton patent numbers on brass badge nearside below barrels
Minimum oil level transfer
Didn't spot any others though it may have had a dealer transfer and if you know the dealer have found a site Decal transfers which has a whole host of dealer transfers - this reminds me to sort myself and track through the system the original dealer though some are very impressive so a debate with originality here.
Trust helps.

VMCC transfers..
... in my experience weren't brilliant. I found the quality from Classic Transfers much better, and nice people to deal with.

Another option...
... is I say ding dong. They have a range of dealer transfers. I had a primary chaincase oilbath vinyl sticker from them and again good quality.

In fact they have the Whittakers one you're looking for (3rd page).

Many thanks Mark, Hugh and…
Many thanks Mark, Hugh and Ian, most helpful and I have already checked the two sites.
I hadn't thought of a dealer's sticker so have just dug out the old buff logbook but no mention of a dealer at all. The first owner in January 1957 owned it for 2 years then 2 others before I bought it in June 62.
Hugh, is there any chance of a photo of the rear mudguard and the one behind the battery box when you have time please. There are several for the rear mudguard and I haven't seen the battery box one before, just so that I can see if the lettering is vertically upwards or downwards.
Regards to all
Dick

Will do my best re photos as…
Will do my best re photos as not the most technophob. Just tried one and too large for site at 5.2mb. Send me an email at hughcoombs@yahoo.co.uk and should be easier.
In terms of dealer I found the Enfield from the RE Club factory records. I believe the Norton records would show the same thing.

max oil level
Hello your max oil level was on the oil tank, And Not the Primary chain case it had a oil bath sticker and you need Lucas Primary chain case oil witch cools and will not let the clutch slip, this is proper stuff made for early Harley Davidson's like pan heads and knuckle heads with chain drive transmission just like our Norton's these where great iconic motorcycles For our Norton's too compete with just think on the Competition was good for the Development of our Norton motorcycles and there racing history and Norton twins played a big part in this Built in the light of experience , Yours Anna J
