Often when I turn off the engine on my 1975 Mk III Electric Start it makes a loud, harsh noise like a wound-up ribbon spring unwinding for about two seconds. Is this my sprag unwinding, a kickstart pawl issue, or what?

It's one of the reasons that I took a hacksaw to my 'electric tart'.
