Service Tools for Hire?

Forums

Hiya,

Does the NOC have a section that hires out workshop tools for members?

I am after a crankshaft pinion extraction tool (P158 I think?) which I think is the same tool as a Triumph 61-6019, if the NOC does not hire them out are there any club members willing to do it?

Cheers

Steven

Hi Steve,

There isn't currently a tool hire scheme administered by the Club. The problem with all of these great ideas is that the Club does not have any premises to keep such things and is reliant on volunteers to administer the scheme.

Should someone wish to volunteer the space and the time to look after the kit I'm sure the EC would be only too pleased to help.

I have an extra tool like this I am willing to sell. I am in the USA though, so if you are overseas it may cost as much to ship it as it is worth.

If someone wanted to just borrow it that is fine, but if I have to ship it to them just so they can borrow it they may as well put the money towards buying one.

If you are going to be owning and working on Nortons it is not a bad idea to have one. It is about the only special tool you need to tear an engine down, the rest can be made or fudged. If you have a superblend bearing bike, there is a special tool to pull the inner races of the main bearings off the crank that is handy to have. It is a Pickavant puller and is probably still available through that company.
