Quaife 5 speed AMC box spacer and markings

Hi all, I am recommissioning a race bike with a 850 MK111 Commando engine belt drive to a 5 speed AMC box, advertised as Quaife. I am removing the fitted kick start as the ratchet is worn and no longer functions.

(I have two inner covers and two layshafts and two first gear pairs)

So I have removed the currently fitted first gear pairing and layshaft and am replacing them with supplied (pre kick start) first gear pairing and layshaft which fit to supplied pre kick start inner cover.

As I understand it I should be left with the kick start, a gear pairing, a layshaft and an inner cover.

I have in my possession but have yet to fit a plug to the gearbox outer in place of the kick start stub, is this just an interference fit with wellseal as it does not appear to seat far enough into the cover to meet the o ring.

In my pile of diminishing gearbox bits I also have a spacer about the size of a two pound coin. Can any one advise me (nicely) as to where to stick it.

The box is stamped MHQ 5 00328, I can make up all sorts of possible word combinations but can anyone decipher them correctly.

many thanks in advance
