Hi Duncan - are you using “O” rings or the special “square” section rings? I’ve heard that O rings are not as effective sometimes as the square section type - usually available from the noc shop

Hi Duncan,

You might try metric o-rings 6mm x 2mm

( inside diameter x section diameter).

Your local bearing supplier should have them. IMHO these are best for the job. Oil the seals and ease the inner shaft into the hole without shaving the ring outside on a sharp edge.

Agree with everyone else that the square x-section rings are best if you can find them.

....are no longer available from NOC Spares.

While we sold them, they were the perfect answer - they acted like piston seals in a caliper.

Sadly, our existing supplier could not do them any more and a replacement supplier has yet to be found. If your leak is from around the gearchange spindle (& not from the centre spindle), then one solution is find an appropriate conventional oil seal, and have a machine shop install it in the outer cover for you.
