Lockheed brake hose thread

Moring All

I am trying to work out what the thread is on the Lockheed front calipers of my 73 commando. I am wanting to go over to a stainless hose and it is this thread that I need to get right.

Regards

Sean

My later Lockheed calipers are 3/8" x 24 tpi (i.e. UNF), so it's more than likely they all were. The M10 x 1 metric threads used on the hydraulic hose connections such as the Goodrich type will fit into the caliper but you can tell that something is wrong as the fitting flops around in there too loosely.

As with all these things, it's out with the vernier, thread gauge and increasingly these days, the magnifying glass if you want to be certain.

3/8 UNF thread fittings for the brake ends are still available but not as common in Europe as metric fittings. Ebay an the Internet are good source of such things but companies such as RGM list ready made stainless brake hose on the website also.
