Kickstart not engaging suspect ratchet spring is broken need to check.
Is it possible after removing the fixings from the internal gear box end plate to draw this plate off the main shaft and ratchet shaft leaving the gears in place or will all the gears come loose.

If you lean the bike a bit to the left and work carefully, the gears will stay in the box.
During reassembly I forgot this spring and had to open up the box again.
When you fit the new spring look for the right position of the rachet gear to the kickstart shaft. The hole for the kickstart return spring should point upwards the get a preload on the spring. I fitted the kickstart lever and turned the shaft in the right position, then fitted the spring and rachet gear. The long teeth also point upwards.
