how many clutch plates

can any one tell me how many clutch plates i need i am puting new clutch plates on my 1951 plunger model 7 i took off 6 plain plates and 5 friction plates i am using my old plane plates as there is nothing wroung with them but now reasembling i can only get on 4 new friction plates and 5 plain plates and every thing is seated properlymy old friction plates were the ferodo tab type and the new ones are modern glued type the new friction clutch plates are the only things i am renewing is this the reason and will that4 and 5 now be ok thanks terry

The original owners manual says 6 plain+ 5 ferodo insert plates. replacement friction plates must be thicker than original. You can probably get away with your current set up.
