Thanks in advance to you all. I have three questions about mk2a.
I replaced speedo gearbox and filled it with fresh grease. I now have an oily grease trail across the rear wheel rim. Where did I go wrong, overfilled, wrong grease, missing a seal, other explanation?
Replaced gearbox sprocket, now the box empties it's oil on to the chain and swing arm. Have I overtightened primary chain causing this? I have refilled the gearbox to see if there is a leak from the seal. Any insights would be welcome.
I know it wet sumps. When I undid the three bolts holding the inner primary chain case, oil ran out from the bolt holes. Do they all do this? It has not been a problem as the gasket and sealant seems to have kept the oil where it should be.
Thanks again MarkO.

Something strange going on…
Something strange going on here but, to address the Commando questions:
Speedo gearbox has a felt seal that is not particularly good at sealing. If you over-grease or the felt is old and hard, grease will spray over the hub and beyond.
You can tell whether it's gear or primary oil by smell. If gear oil then it's likely you have damaged or dislodged the sleeve gear oil seal. Pull the sprocket off and check/replace. If primary oil then it's the felt seal at the back of the primary case.
If you over-tighten the primary chain you will damage the sleeve gear bearings and mainshaft. But won't affect the oil seal. Tension primary chain while pressing your foot on the final drive chain to pull the gearbox back against the adjuster.
Yes, if the engine sump is full of oil it will run out of the holes when you remove the bolts holding the primary chaincase.
