Hello beautiful Norton owners.
In Roadholder #298, John Cracknell writes he "got round to checking the fuel level in the float chamber", found it wasn't satisfactory and set it right. For years , I've wondered how you're supposed to do that, without having X-ray vision. Do you take the float chamber off the carb and hold it near it at the same angle as it would be on the bike, and turn the fuel on? If so, what should the correct level be?

You can araldite a clear plastic tube to a hole in a spare float bowl bottom drain cup, and tie it to the side of the carb body. The fuel will find the same level. (Presumably as long as the engine is not running). The Concentric does not allow adjustment anyway (although with earlier metal internals it might be possible). I've never bothered to check myself...although I did replace the original nylon fuel entry control needle with a modern Viton tipped one. Now I can safely park without turning off the fuel and it does not slowly overflow.
