Front Disc Kits

Forums

Having used the standard disc set up. my personal view is that it needs to be a lot better for my personal use.

Steve kindly sent me picthres of the RGM disc set up on his bike which is very nice.

I have also looked at the Norvil single disc set up again nice but uses the master cylinder mine is shot plus its very old now.

i checked out the Colorado Norton disc kit, very professional very good looking and includes a master cylinder (Honda) plus a electric change for the controls.

Looked at the Hemmings set up which is not for me.

Can i ask you guys for any other available kits that also look the part.

You don't need to spend a fortune to improve the brake. Start by either getting existing master cylinder sleeved down or buy one of the 13mm ones available. If you still need improvement change the caliper for the Lockheed Racing/Grimeca type. I have sleeved master cylinder, Lockheed racing caliper & standard disc. It's a really good brake.

Upgraded my Mk1A 850 with the Norvil kit and my Mk3 850 with the RGM kit. Just the disc and Lockheed Racing caliper with new hydraulic pipesin both cases. Retained the original Norton master cylinder (with new seals) on original bores. Both front brakes much improved - little to choose between them but I'd give the Norvil kit the edge. On any front brake upgrade important you also fit new hydraulic pipes - old pipes are often gunged up restricting fluid flow , adding to poor brake performance.
