Fitting Navigator engine

Forums

Hello All,

Progress is made--very slowly mind. I have the top end assembled bar the rocker covers and am now ready to put the engine in the frame. I gather one has to undo a bolt or bolts to do this. I have the rolling chassis sitting there complete and am sure some dismantling is needed to re-unite frame and engine. Has anyone any advice?

Cheers

John, I undid one of the two bolts which connect the front frame member with the top frame rails. Also the lower bolt holding the lower frame rails. So I could swing away the front frame member and slide in the engine. Support the lower frame rails with some wooden blocks.

Hello John,

Uli is completely right in his explanation above but as you have a complete rolling chassis you need to put a box or wooden blocks under the front wheel as well as the blocks under the frame when you pull the forks forward. Otherwise you need two people- one to pull the forks forward and the second to put the engine into the frame. It's a heavy lump in case you have forgotten; I took one out a couple of days ago and they seems to get heavier or else I'm getting older.
