I have a 1959 Model 50. I have removed the outer gearbox cover in order to investigate why the clutch lever is not functioning correctly. I believe I've resolved this problem however, I am now struggling with replacing the cover in such a way that the gear change mechanism is positioned correctly for gear selection. Any suggestions on how I should approach this ? I don't want to find, once the cover is secured back in position, that the normal one up, three down seclection doesn't work.
Cheers,
Mike

I usually put the box in neutral by levering the quadrant up or down and spinning the rear wheel to check. when replacing the cover a small spanner on the gear lever spindle bolt can help to align the parts ,a small torch is also a help. A few light thumps with the rubber hammer shaft can also help.
