fitting Amal carb bell mouths

Looks like it will come to that, tried freezing them without success, put heat gun on, still won't budge. Will try putting them in an ultrasonic cleaner though before submitting them to a hacksaw. Will try the jubilee clip method as well, never thought of that.

Soak with plus gas, try gripping with Stilson's ( large pipe wrench)

Can you post a picture so we know what it is like.

enclosed a pic, bit worried about using heavy stillies as may damage the alli threads on the carb?

After all - you don't need to keep the rings - it's not as if those rings are ofhistorical or aesthetic interest, is it?

Yes they are rather sturdy and I've no idea why they were fitted, they were like that when I acquired them. Think your right, careful cutting on the underside and then try splitting them.

Robert's plan worked, made two cuts very carefully with a junior hacksaw, about an eighth apart and chipped away with a screw driver, gave a couple of taps against the inside edge of the slit and they started to turn, popped them in the ultrasonic and they screwed off easily by hand. Look a lot smarter now with the bell mouths on. Put a pic on of finished job..
