Hello you first need to silicon on the back side of the rubber band With black engineers high temp silicon but just the back part that fits too the inner primary chain case , then the outer primary chain case you need Morris High temp water proof Grease and rub this on the inside edge of the outer case once the inner case has dried out then you can fit the out case too the inner case and do up the center nut too two thread showing only do make sure that there is a felt wash in -between the two case were the foot rest fit , the once you got all sorted the you need too fill up the chain case with LUCAS Primary Chain case oil the filler is the inspection hole with the arm clip on and then you undo the drain plug on the bottom of the chaincase and fill with oil until it run out off the drain hole then fit back the drain plug and do up close the inspection hole with the arm clip , then you can fit your foot rests they do adjust too the height you need them at. have fun yours Anna JCould anyone tell me which way round the rubber chaincase gasket goes the one I've bought has a small lip about 1.5mm at one side does this aim out

If you're having touse silicon on your chaincase you're either doing something wrong or you have a problem with the chaincase, ie distortion. The only place for silicon is round your bathtub!

Hi, the small lip faces outwards according to my Haynes manual, I suppose it stops the gasket sliding too far in when you fit the cover.
Btw, I have just fitted new damper rods and top bushes to stop the forks topping out etc, much better, wish I had done it years ago
