Looks like it was built seventies?, I would dump the fiberglass tank, more trouble than its worth.and the clip ons are too extreme, Going to need a rewire, but you have brakes!. The Forks look interesting ,love the sweptbacks and goldie silecers.

Yes, the tank willl have to go. Someone has at some point put a fair bit of effort into the bike. It's interesting that it has the pre 1960 lower compression head with the equal-sized inlet and exhaust valves and twin carbs. Not a bad combination in fact, though most cafe racers would have used a later head to gain that little bit of con rod straining extra performance. Probably safest to stick with the existing head.

If it is an 88 then the rods are not such an issue, someting to do with the longer stroke of the 99 being more fragile. I mostly revved my 88 till the valves bounced at 7000 or more ,Age is also part of the problem though, when will we get some affordable ally rods made?.also spare ring sets and 10 thou b/e shells ,can find them but not usually from a reliable source.

Yes well we all seen bikes like this before now something that look like a Unitiy equipe job with fibre glass tank and seat and alloy mudguards and clip -ons the late style set of clocks and rear sets witch I have a set, and I still cannot under stand the mentality of Swepped back pipes and Goldie silencers , well we were all young and daft back then now we know betterit would stil make a nice standard looking machnie, even now, yours Anna J
